Wi-Fi 6E Lessons

Here is my latest digital course at WiFi Training. Wi-Fi 6E lessons that cover what you need to know in this new 6GHz spectrum Wi-Fi deployment. Since there are different rules for various regulatory domains (Wi-Fi Alliance page is a good place to find them), it’s a good idea to get an overview of 6GHz deployment before bringing it on to your production environment.

On 23-Feb-2024, the FCC approved Standard Power (SP) operation in the USA (DA-24-166A1), completing all three modes of operations in the country. Back in 2020, LPILow Power Indoor was approved (FCC-20-51A1), and in late 2023, VLPVery Low Power operation was also approved (FCC-23-86A1). When it comes to the rest of the world, mostly LPI and VLP are allowed in the UNII-5 band (500MHz of spectrum).

Here is the course flow of this digital course and I have linked sample videos for reference as well.

Like all my digital content, without delving into frame-level details, your learning will be incomplete. That’s why I have included PCAPs to help you understand 6GHz operation. The PCAPs were taken in my lab environment shown below. It has Netgear Mesh setup, Cisco Meraki 9166 and Cisco 9800 managed 9166 AP, and a few clients who support 6 GHz.

With those different modes of operation (LPI, VLP & SP), there are 7 types of device classes defined in the 6 GHz operation. You have to understand each of these device classes and the rules they must abide by. In this class, we will cover them all.

If you have the “All Access Pass” from WiFi Training (there is a special promotion where you can get All Access pass $599 a year with code WLPCALLAccess24 till 30-April -2024), you should already have access to this content. Please check out all the great content that we have developed over the years and leave us some feedback. We take feedback seriously for our own improvement.

Happy 6 GHz learning.
