Update @ 5th Nov 2014
I passed CWAP exam on my 2nd attempt. It was a very tough exam & you have to have very clear understanding of each of those frame types & functionality of each of them. There will be lots of information to remember.
I hope I have done a reasonable job to make these CWAP blog posts to help you in your CWNP journey as well. Make use of all these material & one day become a TRUE wireless expert by learning these fundamentals. Enjoy your wireless studies.
You can learn more from failure than success, so do no worry about if you could not pass this exam first time🙂 See below, I think I still have learning opportunity in this CWAP.
Thank you Rasika
You are welcome Dan 🙂
Congrats Rasika.
Thanks Sandeep
Great
Thanks Raji
Your posting is really really helpful, good job.
Thank you!
Thanks Shawkat for feedback
Hi Nayarasi,
I have went through many of your links here, learning lot of stuffs from your links
Thanks for providing such detailed informations for all the Wireless topics.
Do, you have any links for learning 802.11 state machine?
Just thought of knowing, what will be the client state when it sends each frames.
Thanks,
Satish.
Probably I would look for IEEE specification for detail.
by the way do you mean CAPWAP state machine ?

Hi,
Your posts contain useful information…. Thanks for the posts
Thank you
Excellent. Thanks a ton for your efforts in posting these and all others. It does not go unnoticed in this community. I’m only recently, about two years ago, getting started in this wireless industry, and I’ve been lucky to have some amazing mentors. So far gotten through the CCNA Wireless and CCNP Wireless, CWNA, and will be going for the CWAP in the next few months.
Having a very well put together source like this to come back for notes on theory is extremely helpful.
Thanks again
wOw, congrats on all those success you achieve in this time frame.
Glad my notes helps you in this and it is very kind of you to give me such remarks
Dear Rasika!
Thank you for these materials. I passed today CWAP and going to pass CWSP and CWDP. CWNP is very interesting certification. And your blog give me a lot of information and, that more important, a motivation on this long road to pass these exams.
wOw, congrats on passing CWAP. Pleased to hear my blog gave you inspiration & study supports. Keep it up & earn your CWNE soon.
Rasika
how to learn cwna please let me know
Hi Sandeep,
I would get this book & start reading & trying to understand the concepts.
if you are working with wireless, then I would encourage to have a small home lab & practice yourself.
If there is opportunity to go for a training, then there are classes available via CWNP authorized training providers

Hello Rashika, This is a wonderful link thanks.
I think the exam format has been changed. Please help us with new one. I have started for CWAP.
Probably I may not able to do that (unless I study for this new exam version). Hopefully you may get some help from these notes

Hi, i really have i question. I configuring an ap cisco 2602i with some vlans and but the problem exactly is when im triying to connect with an iphone, it doesnt work with wpa2-psk. Another test that i did is to connect with an android and it was okay. Can you help to figure it out what is happening with iphone. If you want i can send you a show run of the ap. Have a nice day!
usually if you only configre WPA2 with AES encryption (without TKIP support) things should work

Hi Nayanajith,
i have passed CWDP in Feb 2017 this year and would like to embark on CWAP (tough exam). Hope you can advise me on focus areas beside study guide and your good post….thanks!
Cheers,
Sam
Hi Sam,
I would encourage you to spend time on practicing it a home lab scenario. Spend time on analyzing those different types of frame while understanding theory behind those.
Lots of people still recommend previous version of CWAP official book for its content. So if you get the latest book, keep refer old book as well.
I am sure you can do it

Rasika
Thanks Rasika for the kind words and encouragement!
Cheers,
Sam
Hi Rasika,
Hope you are doing well.
The link ‘CWAP Study Book’ On the wesite doesn’t work. It redirects to the site but there is no content.
You may want to change the URL.
Thanks,
Nilesh
Hi Nilesh,
Thanks for letting me know. I have updated it to show latest Book.
However note that my post is not based on that edition of the book, rather old version of CWAP official book.
Regards
Rasika
Geat help Nayarasi,
I have completed CWNA couple of weeks before and now next target is cwap. I have been through first 6 chapters of cwap study guide and now going through your notes to clear my concepts.
Great work thanks 🙂
Thanks Zeeshan.. spend time to go through packet analysis and that will help a lot in CWAP.
Keep us posted your progress

hi Nayarasi,
I have been reading through your notes for cwap and its great and very helpfull.
Can you please let me know what is announcement frame and is deauthentication and disassociation frame are example of this frames.
Is there any impact for these frame on phy layer of a station?
Regards,
Sunil
Hi Rasika,
Thanks for all your posts and its helping me a lot.
I have a query regarding the recertification . I have cleared my CWNA and CWSP already and it is going to expire in another three months.
If I clear CWAP exam , will it renew the CWNA and CWSP exams too? or will it renew only CWNA?
Thanks,
Tamil

Hi Taylor,
Good to see you got so much of inspiration out of that CWAP class.
I am excited to see you start your blog. Keep writing in regular interval and keep up the momentum. I am sure your CWNP studies will give enough topics to write about
