After 14+ years of staying, yesterday was my last day at La Trobe University (LTU). When I joined the University back in 2009, I had to support a small team in managing their Cisco network. In a couple of years, I decided to learn Cisco Wi-Fi, and that marked the birth of my blog in 2012. The University provided me with so much flexibility and allowed me to explore my passions. Teaching and mentoring are areas where I found the most satisfaction.

During my time at LTU, I encouraged my entire team to acquire Wi-Fi skills to manage large-scale enterprise Wi-Fi. I mentored them to begin their CWNP journey and expand their knowledge of Cisco Wi-Fi. Seeing people you’ve helped thrive in the industry is the most satisfying part of my career.
Specifically, in the past 5 years, I took advantage of all available leave options and continued to balance both sides of work (external teaching and managing University network operations). I am eager to continue following my passion, which demands greater flexibility. However, the University’s expectations for my time conflict with this pursuit. Therefore, I have made the decision to part ways with the University.
I am incredibly grateful to the University for the opportunities given to me during all those years. I am thankful for all the support the LTU team has provided me during my time at LTU, and I have built long-lasting friendships with many of them.
So, what’s next? I am going to remain as an independent network consultant and see how it goes for a while. That will provide the flexibility I need at the moment. I know it will be a different journey and I need to give it a try. I am confident that I will receive enough support from the wonderful network I have built around the world.
